2D Material Solar Cells Fabrication and Characterization

2D Material Solar Cells Fabrication and Characterization

I+D+i

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to fabricate and characterize next-generation solar cells based on 2D materials. We will start by mechanically exfoliating thin MoS₂ crystals, selecting suitable flakes, and transferring them onto pre-patterned contacts using the hot pick-up technique. Once the devices are fabricated, we will explore their optoelectronic properties using the same tools and techniques employed in our daily research. Participants will perform illuminated and dark I–V measurements under one-sun conditions, photocurrent mapping using a supercontinuum laser, EQE measurements, and AFM characterization. The workshop will take place in a fully equipped photovoltaic research laboratory at the Instituto de Energía Solar, offering a practical introduction to how 2D materials can be integrated, tested, and explored as a platform for future photovoltaic technologies.
